Walking through the debris field where Kerrville's Jesus Bench once stood, I searched for familiar landmarks swept away by flood waters. But God's wink came through a deer having lunch among the wreckage, reminding me that Christ isn't confined to metal benches. Like the standing cypress trees in the background, we can be rooted deep enough to withstand any flood when anchored in His Word and connected to the True Vine.

A chance encounter with Mike Wilson's provocative "Jesus Mugshot" painting at River's Edge Gallery in Kerrville transformed my understanding of modern Christian art. Initially conflicted by the imagery of Christ depicted in a mugshot, complete with height markers and the identification "INRI, #777-GGG," this powerful artwork led me to deeper spiritual reflection on sacrifice and redemption that continues to resonate years later.
